Overview of Course

This course covers various types of seizures, causes, triggers and their management. It covers Seizure First Aid and explores the use of anti epilectic medication. It looks at emergency situations and knowing when to call an ambulance. Provides an overview of Seizure Medication and side effects. The ‘rights’ of medication management to maintain safe and effective care to people with seizure disorder and effective documentation in the workplace.


Aims of Course

This Course aims to deliver the knowledge and skills to healthcare workers to safely and effectively care for and manage the person with seizure disorder.


Course Objectives

The Nurses and carers and allied healthcare professionals who complete this course will feel confident and comfortable to provide care for persons before, during and after seizure activity. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to take appropriate action to safeguard persons with epilepsy.


Target Audience

This course is suitable for all healthcare professionals who work with persons who have any type of seizure disorder. However it is important to attend additional training in the use of Buccal Midazolam and to be guided by a policy and individual care plan in your workplace.
