Communication in End of Life Care

Overview of Course

This course will equip healthcare team members with the skills to deal with complex communication problems and emotionally challenging situations. Effective communication skills underpin successful interactions with patients and families. This course also explores the pathway to effective communication within the multidisciplinary team.  

Aims of Course

The aims of this programme are to assist healthcare professionals to develop effective communication skills particularly useful in the area of End of Life Scenarios and to increase their comfort level and confidence in this sometimes daunting area of care.

Course Objectives

 This course aims to increase the awareness of the healthcare team members with regard to their communication skills. It will explore strategies that will enhance their ability to elicit the concerns of people with advanced illness and to deal more effectively with challenging communication situations.
