Overview of Course

 The training will focus on the following issues: - Overview of the urinary system and lower digestive system. Principles of Continence Promotion Factors that contribute to incontinence and thus influence continence promotion needs National Publications Protocols & Guidelines on Continence Care – a review of the evidence Assessment, Planning, Implementing and Evaluation of the care of an older person with continence needs – The Nurses Role. Multidisciplinary team approach – Continence Nurse Advisor, Role of Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, General Practitioner, Pharmacist Psychological and sociological implications of incontinence to the quality of life of the older adult - Case Studies Review.



Aims of Course

 The overall aim of this Continence Care Course is to provide Health Care Professionals with an overview of the competency requirements in managing incontinence and promotion of continence in the older person.
